ABOUT US

The Citizens for Humane Animal Treatment of Wakulla, Inc., known as CHAT of Wakulla is a not-for-profit, charitable corporation.  We are a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Articles of Incorporation were filed on August 8, 2001. We are committed to improving the health, safety, and well-being of domesticated animals in our community. Our roots are in the former Wakulla Humane Society, an organization that had been active for over 30 years. CHAT recently contracted with the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office and now operates the animal adoption center at 1 Oak Street,  Crawfordville,  FL, 32327. Wakulla is one of the fastest growing counties in Florida. Growth brings problems of lost, stray, nuisance, or vicious animals, as well as pet overpopulation.  Whether you enjoy fund raising, animal rehabilitation, spending time with lonely dogs and cats, or simply want to make a monetary contribution, your help is greatly appreciated.
