Wakulla County businesses
were celebrated this past Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Wakulla County Chamber
of Commerce 5th Annual Business Excellence Awards Dinner, held at The Bistro at
Wildwood. The annual awards ceremony is held to recognize members of the
Wakulla County business community.
Chamber of Commerce President Paul
Johnson opened the evening by welcoming the approximatey 135 chamber members in
attendance, and then recognized the Chamber Executive Board members, including
President-Elect Kimberly Moore, Vice President John Shuff, Treasurer Amy Geiger,
Secretary Toni Courtier, and Past President Dave Buckridge.
The annual awards
ceremony is held to recognize members of the Wakulla County business community.
Businesses are nominated by Chamber members, and the nominees are then judged by
a three-member panel. The Environmental Stewardship Award is judged by a
separate group of individuals who are familiar with environmental issues.
The judges individually scored each nominee on a scale of 1 to 10 for each
of the criteria. The judges then met collectively and totaled the points for
each nominee with the winner being the nominee having the highest total points
overall.
Citizens for Humane Animal Treatment (CHAT) received the award
for 2009 Non-Profit Organization of the Year.
